Living a life full of positivity and doing the things you love with the people you love is possible. Visualizing what you want is the first step. And although I am sure you’ve heard this before, it’s worth repeating; To truly get what you want, you must be clear on your intentions. Your intentions may not be so clear in the beginning, and that is perfectly fine! Sometimes it starts with a thought. It just comes to you and you haven’t discovered why but you know you must follow through with action. Keep in mind that dreams and desires are to be worked out, they are not a given. “A goal without a plan is just a wish” so you must first make the time to visualize what you want, then…
WRITE IT DOWN
Writing down your goals requires you to get even more specific about what you want!
Writing also helps with focus. Have you ever tried writing one thought while thinking of another at the same time? It’s nearly impossible. By writing down your goals you’ll be giving them the undivided attention that they deserve.
Memories aren’t always reliable! I don’t know about you but some of my best ideas come to me in the middle of the night, only to wake up and not be able to remember what it was. It happens! So, you must get clear on what you WANT and meditate on the thought no matter how silly or outlandish it may sound because what you DON’T want is always available to you with little to no effort.
Writing down your goals not only helps you remember them, but you begin to give your thoughts life. As we all continue to grow oftentimes our goals will evolve, and that’s great because that’s a sign that the limitation you once believed are beginning to fade.
Writing down your goals lets you know what your original intentions were and allows you the opportunity to refine and expand on them. Also, studies say that students who take more written notes, have better memory.
Writing things down also frees up space in your mind. You can only retain so many thoughts in your head before they get stuck on replay. Writing down your goals is a roadmap, and if you ever really looked at a roadmap you will discover that it is possible to get anywhere. And when I say anywhere that includes places you don’t want to be. Each day carve out some time, so you can get clear on how you’re going to meet & exceed your goals.
These days our phones have become an extension to our arm but, whenever possible, choose paper & pen over a note taking app on your phone. Why? No notification distractions! We’ve all been there. One minute you’re jotting down profound life goals, and the next minute you’re on your best friends, cousins, favorite make-up artists page, and you’ve lost your train of thought. You’ll find more focus the old-fashioned way.
Now that you’ve created a roadmap I’m going to ask you to do something that might sound silly. Frame it. Yes, put it in a frame & hang it where you can see it. When you begin to focus on the things you really want, you will notice you are more specific about your surroundings because everything that you do will be a means to your end goal.
There is incredible power is setting goals. But achieving these goals requires commitment to persistent daily action. There is no secret formula. Big dreams require effort. But it’s not always about the big grand displays or wins! Remember to appreciate and celebrate all the milestones. Many of my goals were reached by consistently doing the smallest acts, with the best intention, keeping my goal in mind, and that has changed my life. It’s simple. When you stick to it, and you’re willing to put in the work, you too can reach your goals.
